Het Canal du Midi slingert door het prachtige Zuid-Franse landschap van Sète aan de Middellandse Zee naar Toulouse, en gaat daarbij dwars door enkele schitterende oude steden. Deze fietsroute loopt over de oude jaagpaden langs het kanaal en volgt vanaf Toulouse het Canal de Garonne, waarmee het Canal du Midi een directe verbinding met de Atlantische Oceaan heeft. Het laatste gedeelte naar Bordeaux gaat de route over een voormalige spoorlijn, de Voie Verte Roger Lapébie. Omdat beide kanalen en de spoorlijn nagenoeg op gelijke hoogte blijven, is deze fietsroute geschikt voor iedereen, jong of oud, getraind of niet. De route is echter minder geschikt voor fietsen met smalle (race)banden, omdat een gedeelte van de jaagpaden nog onverhard is. De fietsroute is in beide richtingen beschreven. Ook is een aftakking naar Narbonne langs het Canal de la Robine in de gids opgenomen
De gids is voorzien van heldere kaarten met een schaal van 1:100.000 en ruim geïllustreerd met foto's. Behalve de routetekst en de praktische info over overnachtingsadressen staat de gids vol informatie over de bezienswaardigheden onderweg

De Normandië en Bretagne Fietsroute tussen Ansjovis en Anjou brengt u van het noordwesten van Frankrijk via Normandië naar de Loire en Bretagne.
De route begint in Boulogne-sur-Mer en loopt voornamelijk over kleine weggetjes rechtstreeks naar de Loire.
Dan begeleidt de rivier de route door haar stroomgebied in westelijke richting.
Bij Ancenis wordt de rivier verlaten en koers gezet naar het Canal de Nantes à Brest. De jaagpaden van dit kanaal zijn de leidraad voor de fietsroute die u door het binnenland van Bretagne voert.
Vanaf Pontivy buigt de route naar het zuiden af. Langs het riviertje de Blavet gaat het naar Port-Louis aan de Atlantische kust.
De route gaat door afwisselend landschap en veel kleine dorpjes. Grotere plaatsen worden zoveel mogelijk vermeden.
Ongeveer 1000km door overwegend vlak tot glooiend landschap. Over een traject van een kleine 100km moet er soms even stevig geklommen worden. Het hoogste punt van de route is overigens niet hoger dan 417m.

In het Parijse straatbeeld zijn steeds meer fietsers te zien. En dat is terecht, want het is geweldig om de stad per fiets te verkennen.
Het is de ideale manier om lukraak door wijken te dwalen waar de toerist niet zo gauw komt. Gek genoeg zijn er nog steeds mensen die beweren dat fietsen onverantwoord is: zij hebben ongelijk! Er zijn de laatste jaren namelijk heel wat fietspaden langs de drukke boulevards aangelegd. Maar de onverwachte kanten van de stad komt u vooral tegen als u de stille wijken in gaat: de tochten uit deze gids brengen u erheen.
In deze gids beschrijft Joke Radius drie fietstochten door Parijs die langs water, parken, kerkhoven en boulevards gaan, over voormalige spoorwegtracés en door heel smalle straatjes. Naast veel café-terrassen zijn langs de route ook musea en aparte bezienswaardigheden aangegeven. Another common sight a visitor to Provence encounters are the fields of lavender. Strictly speaking, the blue-purple plants are not real lavender, but lavandin, an easily-cultivated and productive hybrid of lavender. Though the demand for lavender is declining due to competition from synthetic scents, the main users of the fragrant plant remain the perfume makers in the nearby city of Grasse.
Before the Rhône reaches the Mediterranean, its fertile valley flattens into a wide delta. This is the Camargue, a photogenic landscape were the little white horses and wild black bulls graze. Cowboys in France are known as ?Guardians?, and their work can be dangerous. They use not a lasso, but a long lance with three points called a ?trident?.
Another symbol of the Camargue is a much less dangerous animal ? the pink flamingo. These long-legged wading birds take their colour from the salt crabs that form a large part of their diet. Flamingos use their distinctive curved beak to filter the crabs, artemia salina, from the water.
